With over 20 years in the entertainment and media industry, Phemelo began her career at Metro FM, where she was a newsreader and Saturday afternoon presenter. Phemelo achieved star status when she acted as Khensani Moroka on the popular SABC 1 soapie, Generations.
Following a brief hiatus, Phemelo returned to radio at Talk Radio 702, where she carved her career as a content producer for lifestyle and business shows. She then went on to host weekend breakfast at the talk radio station, where she grew her timeslot’s audience figures substantially.
Before joining Kaya 959, where she currently hosts Point of View (POV) with Phemelo Motene, every Monday to Thursday between 8 and 10 pm, she made a pitstop at SAFM, where she presented the lunchtime show.
She has been lauded by icons such Dr. John Kani, Sam Nhlengethwa and William Kentridge for her engaging, well-researched interviewing skills. “Best interview in years if not ever.” Prof Zakes Mda (SA Book Fair 2018).
