Collaborations

Pieter Bezuidenhout has been a musician all his life, being involved in vocal as well as instrumental ensembles both on an amateur and professional level. Aside from being a multi-instrumentalist, singer, pedagogue and choral conductor he is also one of South-Africa’s most prominent young composers whose works have been performed in Washington, Bratislava, Graz, Istanbul, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Singapore to name put a few. He is currently the conductor of the Magalies High School Choir, the Loreto Convent for Girls’ Choir, The Hoërskool Oos-Moots’ choir, The Tygervalley primary school choir as well as the Horizons Project Choir.

Gauteng Opera is an all-round performing arts and entertainment company.  They specialize in opera productions, concerts and events which is driven by excellence in vocal performance and theatre.The company prides itself in being one of the foremost nurturers of experts and proponents for quality vocal performance and theatre practitioners.This vibrant entity is managed by CEO, Marcus Desando and COO, Arnold Cloete.  The main aim is to create classical performance opportunities for South African artists from choristers, trainees and soloists and also to expand its aim to extend toward commercial endeavours.  With its roots securely in the past, starting off as The Black Tie Ensemble in 1999, the company grew and evolved over the years until the launch of an opera company on 11 October 2013, called GAUTENG OPERA.

Music Enlightenment Project (MEP), a section 21 non-profit organisation, is located on Juta Street in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, and operates from the premises of Progressive Primary School. We have been privileged to have this as our home since our inception in 2009. We provide extra-curricular music and dance education to the students of Progressive Primary School as well as children from surrounding schools who come to Progressive Primary in the afternoons. Loreto Convent and Hoerskool Oosmoot from Pretoria will be singing with the adult choirs and orchestra in the DIES IRAE.

Rehearsal Pianist  - Misha started playing piano at the age of seven and made her debut performance within six months as soloist with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. She has since been a prize winner in various national and international competitions, and has performed with orchestras in SA and abroad. In 2012 Misha won the UNISA Licentiate Overseas Scholarship Competition which has allowed her to travel to London, Austria, Germany and Switzerland for music festivals and master classes with acclaimed teachers during the last three years. Misha studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London and is currently a Masters student of Prof Joseph Stanford at the University of Pretoria. Misha has also been able to pursue her passion for vocal accompaniment by being employed as répétiteur for the classical voice department at UP since 2014, which has led to numerous collaborations with singers throughout South Africa.
